Vacation
If you work 20 or more hours per week, you receive paid vacation based on your years of service with Verizon. Part-time V Teamers accrue vacation on a prorated basis, based on your work schedule.
During your first year, you earn a prorated amount of vacation based on your hire date. If you joined after September 30, you will start to accrue vacation time starting the next January 1.
Years of service | Full-time vacation per year |
---|---|
Less than 3 years | 15 days (120 hours or 3 weeks) |
3 to less than 8 years | 20 days (160 hours or 4 weeks) |
8 to less than 25 years | 25 days (200 hours or 5 weeks) |
25+ | 30 days (240 hours or 6 weeks) |
You can carry accrued vacation into the next year, up to 175% of your annual benefit level. If you reach the 175% limit, you will stop accruing vacation time until you take time off and your balance drops below the 175% cap.
Personal time
Regular, full-time employees receive six paid personal days on January 1 of each year, which you can use for personal business, recreation, religious observance, or other days of special significance.
Your personal time benefit is prorated in your first year, based on when you join Verizon.
You must be scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week to be eligible for personal time. The annual benefit is prorated by schedule if you work 20 to 39 hours per week. For example, if you’re scheduled to work 30 hours per week, you’ll be eligible for 4.5 days of personal time.

Unscheduled illness/absence (UIA)
Verizon provides 40 hours of paid UIA time each calendar year for full-time employees and a one-week equivalent for part-time employees, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
Use UIA time when you need to arrive to work late, leave early, or take a full day of absence due to your own illness, a family member’s illness or other unplanned event.
Verizon also provides UIA benefits for use as paid time off under any applicable state or local paid leave laws.
Bereavement
Verizon provides up to five days (or 40 hours) of paid bereavement time annually for full-time employees (prorated for part-time employees). You don’t need to take bereavement days consecutively, but the time should be taken within two weeks after the death. When this is not possible, we encourage you to discuss timing with your supervisor.
Life’s busy. We get it. You deserve support to show up for life’s celebrations and move through challenges—and to take time for self-care.
